Judge Deah B. Warren has served the citizens of Douglas County as Superior Court Judge since her appointment in March 2022. As a Superior Court Judge, she is responsible for presiding over felony criminal matters, divorce and child custody matters, disputes over land, matters of equity, and other civil disputes. A proponent of Accountability Courts, she also presides over a division of Douglas County's Drug Court.
Prior to her appointment, Judge Warren had a distinguished career in public service. She served Douglas County as its Chief Assistant District Attorney under District Attorney E. Dalia Racine, and Deputy Chief District Attorney under District Attorney Brian Fortner. In both roles, she primarily handled serious violent felonies and crimes against women and children.
Judge Warren began her career in the Douglas County Solicitor's Office in 2007, where she primarily prosecuted domestic violence crimes and DUIs. In addition to her aforementioned service, Judge Warren also prosecuted crimes against women and children in the Clayton County District Attorney's Office where she served on the Statewide Human Trafficking Task Force. In 2018, Judge Warren joined the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office where she prosecuted homicides as a member of the Major Case Division. She was recognized for her trial work, receiving First Year Major Case Prosecutor of the Year honors in 2018 and then Major Case Prosecutor of the Year honors in 2019. Judge Warren regularly commits her time and energy to the greater community as an instructor, coach, and mentor. She has been a regular conference speaker and presenter on the topics of trial practice and procedure to attorneys, law enforcement, and citizens. Judge Warren coached Georgia State University College of Law’s mock trial team, winning the 2017 ‘William Daniel National Trial Competition’. She was also an attorney coach with Jonesboro High School for their 2016 State Mock Trial State Championship, for which she was recognized by the Georgia House of Representatives in House Resolution 1937. Judge Warren previously taught litigation instruction at a weeklong course for new prosecutors for over 10 years and lectured on delivering closing arguments. In 2023, Judge Warren presented at the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorney's (GABWA) Trial Masters Bootcamp on advocacy from the judicial perspective post-covid. In January 2024, Judge Warren was honored to speak on a panel at the Superior Court Judges winter conference concerning sentencing issues and concerns.
Judge Warren is a native of Memphis, TN. She is a proud graduate of Spelman College, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics in 2002. At Spelman, Judge Warren became a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., "Sweet" Mu Pi Chapter. Judge Warren obtained her law degree from Georgia State University College of Law, where she served as President of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA). She was also a member of the award winning Student Trial Lawyers Association mock trial team.
Judge Warren is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Sigma Omega Omega Chapter. She is a member of The Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) and serves as the 2024 co-chair of Student Programming. Judge Warren is a member of the Gate City Bar Association and while she has previously served its board as Secretary and Treasurer, she was elected to serve the Judicial Section as 2024 Member-at-Large. Judge Warren is also a member of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers (GAWL); the Douglas County Bar Association; and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. She is a member of the Leadership Douglas Class of 2024.

Judge Warren doesn't believe in the phrase "that's how we've always done it." If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always had. And she brought that philosophy to her chambers and the bench.
Judge Warren has been committed to looking for ways to improve communication, processes, and habits to reduce the covid backlog and unnecessary case lag times. She has implemented paperless processes and instituted mandatory e-filing, where possible, to increase accountability. She has also removed any form of case or calendar management from outside her office to also increase transparency and accountability.
Judge Warren and her staff keep an open line of communication with the Sheriff's Office, Clerk of Court, District Attorney's Office, Public Defender's Office, and other stakeholders concerned with the justice system.
